Hackney Enterprise Network Business Excellence Awards 2005, page 2

Best women's business: As the female partners of an architectural practice, Barbara Kaucky and Susanne Tutsch represent a minority in the male-dominated world of construction. Their work in the borough includes a community garden at Fellows Court, Haggerston, and a playgarden. Best new start-up: GF Wedding Venues, set up by founders Laura McCaffrey and Nicola Hill, is an online wedding venue search facility for same sex ceremonies. The duo are pictured (above) receiving the award from mayor Jules Pipe.

Best social
enterprise: Mazorca Projects is a non-profit organisation supporting and promoting design-makers. It is best known for its Hidden Art initiative. Chief executive Dieneke Ferguson is pictured (right) receiving the award from mayor Jules Pipe.

Best ethnic minority business: Ekonomi magazine carries the economic news and views of the Turkish-speaking community in the UK. Aysen Ipek and editor Timur Ekingen are pictured (left) receiving the award from mayor Jules Pipe.
Best young enterprise (18 to 30-year-olds): Based in the London Youth Support Trust Incubator at Mare Street Studios, Tasty-Kitchen Couture provides an original twist to a standard set of household accessories, including cooking aprons, baby bibs and sturdy shopping bags. Early in 2005, Natasha Mason, from Dalston, unleashed its Kitchen Couture collection, which was snapped up by Selfridges. Clifford Dobbs, of The Prince's Trust, collected the award on Natasha's behalf.
