Travellers in Olympic limbo
Travellers who will be forced from their Hackney Wick campsite by the Olympics say they are living in limbo because promises haven't been honoured to relocate them.
Twenty families at Hackney Council's official travellers' site on Waterden Crescent face an uncertain future now that London has won the bid for the 2012 games because the site will be flattened to make way for three stadiums.
Businesses along the road are also being forced to shut up shop or relocate.
Since plans for the Olympics were first muted at the end of 2003, travellers say they've been in talks about relocating with bosses from the council and the London Development Agency, who are planning the games.
But even though travellers say they have been promised a new site, the council and the LDA have not yet found any land leaving families doubtful about their future.
