Hackney men die earlier
HACKNEY men have one of the lowest life expectancies in London, according to government figures, with the borough's women outliving them by more than six years.
A boy born in Hackney can expect to live 74.6 years, while a new-born girl can look forward to a life of 80.8 years, says a report from the Office of National Statistics.
The survey gives Hackney men the fourth shortest lifespan in the capital, which is also below the London average of 76.48 years, while women perform slightly better, coming 20th overall, although still below the average of 81.07 years.
However, both Hackney men and women can expect to live almost three years longer than they could a decade ago, when the averages were 71.7 and 77.8 years respectively.
