UNBRIDLED passion filled the town hall square as residents young and old declared their love for Hackney on Tuesday.
Loved-up folk enjoyed fun and frolics as part of the council's I _ Hackney civic pride campaign.
Hundreds of happy revellers joined the grand luv-fest on Valentine's Day with special badges and heart-shaped balloons bearing the I _ Hackney logo given away.
Among the other attractions were stilt walkers and street performers as well as stalls and sideshows promoting cleaner and safer streets and celebrating what Hackney folk like most about where they live.
The entertainment included face-painting and story-telling workshops with acclaimed author and Hackney resident, Michael Rosen, as well as a last chance to visit the I _ Hackney exhibition at nearby Hackney Museum.
For older children, Kiss FM radio station's street team were on hand hosting challenges and giving away great prizes including mp3 players.
A special bus advertising campaign is also being run and a red double decker bearing the "I __Hackney" slogan was on show.
Folk were also encouraged to write on heart-shaped post-it notes why they love Hackney as well as make a Valentine's Day promise to recycle more or join in community activities.
