Walk the rooms of Christmas past
Christmas cheer through-the-ages has gone on display at a Shoreditch museum this week.
The Geffrye Museum on Kingsland Road unveiled its annual 'Christmas Past' exhibition on Tuesday (November 24).
Eleven rooms in the museum's 18th century almshouses have been transformed to show traditional Christmas celebrations in English middle-class homes dating back to the 17th century.
Kisses under the mistletoe, parlour games and cocktail parties are all included in this annual exhibition.
And this year, the museum will focus on a 'make do and mend' theme, demonstrating how to avoid Christmas costs and commercialism in the economic downturn.
"Christmas Past: 400 Years of Seasonal Traditions in English Homes" will be open Tuesday to Saturday until January 3. Admission is free.
