Hackney-based Moroccan fighter Yassine El Maachi's has told the Gazette that his next fight will take place on Saturday, November 28 at Brentwood Leisure centre.

The talented light-middleweight is in good form after a third-round knockout victory over Drew Capbell at the Watford Colosseum.

He floored his Colchester opponent with a left jab, followed by a left uppercut, as referee John Lewis stopped the contest after 54 seconds in round three.

"I was to box Steve O'Meara for the Southern Area light-middleweight title, but my opponents has pulled out injured and instead I will meet a selected opponent in a six-round contest," he said.

The Moroccans fight career started in Holland, where he won three out of three, including two stoppages, before arriving in London, where he has lived and trained in South Hackney for the last four years.

Top of the bill on this hackney-based Hennessey Sports Promotion is former Repton BC and Commonwealth champion Darren Barker's fight against Birmingham's Wayne Elcock for the vacant British middle-weight title.

El Maachi is a southpaw who boxes in the style of his childhood hero Naseem Hamed

Meanwhile, Lion Club boxer Sylvester Brobby Junior won his North East London Senior Novice Championship class A under-75kg semi-final bout at the Five-Star Gym in Harold Hill.

It was a different story on Saturday night at the Rocket Nightclub, Times BC show in Holloway Road when he was disqualified in the third round against Repton's Michael Norgrove.

Lion Club teammate Lewis Isaacs lost to Stow BC fighter Joe Stokes by unanimous decision.
