Arsene Wenger will be patient with Olivier Giroud
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed Olivier Giroud to replace Robin van Persie, despite missing a one-on-one against Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet – firing wide.
The 25-year-old joined from Montpellier in the summer and his new boss believes that he will grab the goals once he settles in.
“That’s the burden you face when you take over from Robin van Persie because people are used to seeing him score,” Wenger said.
“But he missed some chances as well and I feel Giroud will score goals but he rushed his chance a bit he had more time than he thought he had and I believe in time he will get there. I’m not worried too much about that and I’m sure I’m right.”
The Brisbane Road-based club are hopeful permission for a review will be granted after oral hearing.
