Transfer news: Arsene Wenger says Arsenal are eyeing new a new midfielder and a defender
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed the north Londoners are hoping to bring in a midfielder and a defender before the close of the transfer window.
Alex Song became Arsenal’s second high profile departure of the summer after Robin van Persie when he left for Barcelona at the weekend, and Wenger is eyeing reinforcements.
Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin is expected to sign for the Gunners on loan in the coming days, with more new additions likely to follow.
“We are looking to bring one more midfielder in of course,” Wenger told Arsenal’s official website.
“And maybe one defender as well because we still feel we are short in some positions,” he added.
