Orient skipper Stephen Dawson could be out of action for up to six weeks after suffering an ankle ligament injury at Carlisle on Saturday.

The influential midfielder has suffered his fair share of problems this campaign and admitted: “It’s probably the worst season I have had with injuries during my career, but I’ve just got to get on with it.

“It looks like I will be out for six weeks, but I suppose it’s part and parcel of football. But I’m not a good watcher.”

Dawson had a scan on Monday that confirmed his fears and he said: “It’s swollen and there is not a lot I can do at the moment.

“Hopefully I might be able to get in the pool next week and and get fit as quickly as I can.

“I knew something was wrong straight away when it happened. I heard a click. I tried to play on, but just couldn’t do it.”

The Irishman was substituted after just 20 minutes at Brunton Park last weekend and could miss seven games.

“It was a disappointing day all round to be fair,” admitted Dawson.
