O’s chief hope to turn things around quickly

With home games against Brentford and Yeovil to come in the next week, Orient manager Russell Slade is hoping to turn things around quickly.

Orient picked up their first points of the season at Swindon Town last weekend and Slade said: “All of a sudden, from a gloomy start to the season – played three, lost three – now we’ve won a game and with two home matches to come the place is a little brighter.”

The O’s boss believes the influence of new signings Lee Cook and Martin Rowlands can help in their bid to climb the table.

“I’ve talked about the know-how and experience that those two will bring to the table and they are only going to get better,” said Slade.

“The more game time they get, the more they are going to bring us.”

Slade believes there is a fine margin between success and failure in League One this season - a point underlined by the fact that three of Orient’s four league games have been settled by a single goal and the fact they have played three away from home has not helped.

“With cup games we have played five of our six games away, which isn’t the ideal start,” said Slade.

The O’s have also played some of the early-season pace-setters and the three sides they have lost to are all currently in the top six.

“We are not the only side that Tranmere have beaten this season and it has been a tough start, so we have got to try and make the most of the two home games coming up,” said the Orient boss.
