Three men and a teenager have been arrested in east London today under the 2000 Terrorism Act.

Officers from the Met’s crack Counter Terrorism Command swooped on four locations this morning, but Scotland Yard didn’t specify exactly where in east London.

A 24-year-old was arrested near to his home. The others, aged 27, 25 and 18, were arrested at their home addresses.

All four are being held under section 41 of the Terrorism Act on suspicion of being concerned in commissioning, preparing or instigating acts of terrorism and have been detained at a south London police station.

The arrests were pre-planned as part of an ongoing investigation by Scotland Yard and MI5 and are linked to activity in the UK.

Officers are currently searching five residential addresses and business address, all in east London.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man also from east London who was arrested last month on suspicion of “encouraging terrorism” has been bailed for a second time, to return to a central London police station in late June.
