Hackney has lost 39 officers in the last two years, but the latest Metropolitan Police crime figures reveal theft from a person rose by 32.1 per cent in the last year, theft from shops rose by 20.4 per cent and theft of motor vehicles rose by 21 per cent.

Ms Arnold said: “The loss of officers is completely unacceptable. As theft and motor vehicle crimes are rising in our borough we need more police on our streets, not less. “That’s why I’m calling on the Mayor to protect the police to help keep our streets safe for all of us.”
