An 18-year-old man was arrested for a public order offence in connection with the incident but police want to speak to other witnesses.

Investigating officer PC Richard Bonner said: “Between 6pm and 7pm a man began shouting at passengers waiting on the platform at Stamford Hill that he was going to shoot them and indicating he had a firearm.

“The man, who had a tan-coloured dog – which could have been a Staffordshire bull terrier – on a lead, then boarded a train bound for Enfield Town, where he continued his threats.”

The man was arrested when he left the train at Bruce Grove, Tottenham, and released on bail until July 31.

PC Bonner added: “Though we’ve arrested a man in connection with this incident our investigation is continuing, I’m sure this would have been witnessed by a number of passengers and urge anyone who saw what took place to come forward and talk to us.”

Call British Transport Police with information on 0800 405040, quoting reference B7/LNA of 28/06/2012 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
