Graffiti artists grabbed their spray paint and got to work transforming an empty old building into a new gallery this afternoon.

The property in Kingsland Road, Haggerston, at the Orsman Road junction, used to house an architects firm but has recently been empty.

Staff members at The Glory pub, which faces the building, spotted the artists at work and posted a picture of their progress on Twitter.

The workers had in fact come over from Hong Kong and said the building was to become a gallery named Olly Studios.

John Sizzle, an east London drag DJ and director of The Glory said: “Haggerston continues to happen! The Glory stages lots of arts events, we even have a resident artist James Davison, so this is a great match for the pub.

“Hopefully we can work together. The graffiti looks like it’ll be pretty special too, east London is famous for its street art and the more the merrier if you ask me.”
