“Parklets” will replace individual parking bays on streets, and 15 of them will be in place from one to six months.

Applications open tomorrow, and a road show in Broadway Market will showcase two parklets - one of which will be set up by People’s Parking Bay campaigner, Brenda Puech who originally came up with the idea.

Submissions could include planters, benches, games, notice boards and anything else - within reason.

Successful applicants will be able to access grants of up to £150 to set them up.

The trial scheme will support 15 parklets, and creators can then apply for them to become permanent.
