Wish tree displays hopes and dreams in Hackney’s Springfield Park

A ‘wish tree’ in Springfield Park was transformed into a bright display of people’s hopes for the future.
Buddhist organisation Soka Gakkai International (SGI-UK) asked passers-by to write down their hopes and dreams and tie them with ribbons onto the “wishing tree” by Springfield Park Café.
“We were surprised by the willingless and enthusiasm of the local community to share their dreams and wishes,” said organiser Julian Danquah.
“Families, young and old individuals and even the park rangers and the staff of the cafe carefully wrote out their wishes,” he said.
“I hope the tree set down some seeds for people to think a little about things they hope to achieve and aspire to be, you can’t have wishes come true if you get too busy to forget to create them,” said SGI-UK member, Anna Strickland.
The display will be removed tomorrow, and Clapton library’s manager has agreed they can be displayed there for two weeks.
