Everyone is invited to discover Hackney’s rich culinary heritage this weekend at Ridley Road Market this weekend, at the launch of a new smart phone app.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

Funded by the National Lottery, school children and senior citizens have worked together since last year under the guidance of A Different Drum Productions, to help create the app, A Taste of Hackney.

Cooking demonstrations will run at the market in Dalston, off Kingsland Road, from 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday, showcasing the West Indian, Jewish, Turkish and African foods on sale there.

Pupils from Colvestone Primary school will lead a treasure hunt and poetry workshops and pensioners from Agewell UK will also be on hand to share their memories of the market on guided tours.
