Detectives investigating the death of a Hoxton man have dropped their murder investigation.

Greg Peake, 26, was found dead in a block of flats in the Cranston Estate on March 19 and a 28-year-old man was arrested on the suspicion of murder.

That man has now been told no further action will be taken and the death is no longer being treated as suspicious.

Scotland Yard said police will liaise with the coroner and an inquest will open in due course.

Marketing worker Greg moved to Leicestershire from South Africa three years ago, and was given his first job in the industry by Richard Olsen, who runs Olsen Metrix.

“We introduced him to the local community and helped him out when he arrived,” Richard told the Gazette after his death. “He was a lovely young man with a good future.”

Rhodes University in South Africa also paid tribute to Greg, a former journalism student. A spokesman said: “Greg did the new media course in fourth year as specialisation and was the recipient of the IT Web busary. He went on to work for IT Web in 2013 before heading back to the United Kingdom where his family resides. Our condolences and thoughts go out to the family and friends.”
