Staff at a GP practice in London Fields have been crowned team of the year at a national awards show.

Richmond Road Medical Centre saw off competition from across the country at the National GP Awards last week. It was the first Hackney surgery to be nominated for the award, and Dr Gopal Mehta said everyone involved was delighted.

“This is a huge achievement not just for our practice but for Hackney,” he said. “We were fully supported and recommended by the City and Hackney CCG and GP confederation.”

The surgery has a same-day registration service and a system in which all registered patients get seen within 48 hours of contact. Dr Mehta says the practice puts a strong focus on treating mental health problems.

“The award is a testament to the commitment and dedication our entire team have put into the practice and we would like to thank them all,” he added.
