“Reactions ranged from appreciation and adoration through to disgust,” said the Welsh miliner.

A milliner kept her promise not to use any tricks or hidden underwear in her London Fashion Week show last week, when she sent all the models down the catwalk totally starkers - apart from her hats, fascinators and hair pieces.

Robyn Coles’ publicity stunt was so successful it sent the website selling her hats crashing on Tuesday night.

“I was quite nervous beforehand but the models weren’t,” said 31-year old Robyn, a former fashion buyer for Browns who began making hats a year ago when she was made redundant.

“I wasn’t too sure where to look at time - I am British after all. But I just maintained eye contact.”

The models who appeared at the White Rabbit Studios in Dereham Place, Shoreditch, were a mix of friends and life drawing models, many with tattoos and piercings.

They included comedian Jeff Leach from the BBC documentary entitled Confessions of a Sex Addict and former Miss Wales Sophia Cahill, who is seven months pregnant.

“Some people have been a bit squeamish about the nudity especially with regards to the pregnancy,” said Robyn.

“I had one email saying how immoral I was, in fact that what I was doing was illegal.

If that were the case we would all be arrested at several point each day for being naked,” she added.

“It isn’t for everyone, granted, but most people have got it for what it was - a light hearted look at fashion and a full publicity show to get a new designer recognised and talked about.”
