It’s not just on the main stage that Hackney Weekend festival-goers can get their fix of celebrity-spotting – eagle-eyed revellers may well spot some famous faces in the audience too.

Former The Only Way is Essex star, Mark Wright, is enjoying Radio One’s music festival on Hackney Marshes today (Saturday) with a group of friends.

He told the Gazette: “I’m having a great time here in Hackney. It’s been a brilliant day so far, and I’m really enjoying myself!”

But a crowd of girls mobbed the 25-year-old, who is currently starring in the new reality show Mark Wright’s Hollywood Nights, when they realised a celebrity was in their midst and a minder had to pull him away.

Brick Lane Comedy Festival cancelled after opposition from community groups

A comedy festival in east London due to feature acts including Al Murray, Alan Davies and Ed Byrne has been cancelled because of “heavy opposition from local community groups”.
