Architecturally brilliant buildings in Hackney are opening their doors to the public this weekend as part of the capital’s Open House London.

Local residents are encouraged to tour the open buildings in their area to get a glimpse of their design and history free of charge.

Clissold House in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington is a grade two listed building dating back to the 1790s with over £8.9m spent on it to restore it to its former glory.

Stoke Newington’s art deco town hall is also open, showing off the two spaces available for private hire.

On Holywell Lane is the quirky Village Underground, a group of artist studios made out of recycled tube trains on top of an abandoned railway viaduct.

The grade two listed buildings Hoxton Hall, St Augustine’s Tower, Rivington Place, Dalston Culture House, and the Almshouse at the Geffrye Museum are also open.

The Building Exploratory, a Hackney-based charity focussing on architecture, will be hosting an exhibition and an Open House activity trail over the weekend.
