A community 10k run which takes in Victoria Park has been given a £2,000 cash boost thanks to sales of 5p shopping bags.

Pride Run 10k has been given the grant from supermarket giant Tesco through their Bags of Help initiative.

The grants are awarded to fund local community projects from the proceeds raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores.

The run, is organised by members of London Frontrunners, an inclusive running club for LGBT+ and gay-friendly people and has been raising cash for charities for the last 14 years.

Derek Clark, race director of the Pride Run 10k, said: “We are delighted to receive this grant and would like to thank all the Tesco customers who voted for us.

“As a race that is organised for everyone it is heartening to see the support we have received from the local community.

“We look forward to next year’s Pride Run 10K being bigger and better than ever.”
