The southbound route 73 bus caught fire on the A10 outside a parade of shops at the junction with Amhurst Park at 6.50am.

No one was injured and firemen managed to put out the massive fire within 20 minutes - but the road is still closed to clean-up the oil spill.

Mr Shuki, manager of Sharons Bakery located next to where the bus stopped, said: “We saw a massive fire coming out of the back of the bus, we had to close the doors because there was really very bad smoke coming out.

“No one was really panicking because the bus was quite empty.”

The road reopened at 11.50am. A Transport for London spokesperson said there would be a full investigation into the incident.
