Where will you spend Halloween weekend? Here are a few options in case you’re stuck

With Halloween about to rear its beastly head, we’ve selected a few scary options to choose from – from Stranger Things and Hannibal Lecter to witch hunts and drag queens, there’s something to make anyone shiver.

Tinie Tempah’s (inset) Disturbing London record label is taking over Egg London in York Way on October 28, transforming it into a Halloween grotto. The Brit and MOBO award winning artist will share the stage with Katy B as well as a host of other artists including DJ Charlesy and Charlie Hedges.

It’s time for Stranger Things at the Night Call Halloween Special at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen. Take inspiration from the hit Netflix show and team up with a few other misfits to defeat the monster. There’ll be flickering Christmas lights and alphabet walls as Will Byers tries to communicate from the other side. There’s a hidden entrance to The Upside Down, themed cocktails and music from DJ collective Out & Down, calling on the 80s classics for a Stranger Things inspired mix. Dress as the Demogorgon, don glasses as Barb or even shave your head to channel Eleven.

National Trust’s Sutton House in Homerton High Street is opening its doors again for the Grimehouse Halloween party on Saturday October 29. This year it’s Silence of the Lambs themed, so dig out your skin suits and put the lotion in the basket. There’s a nice chianti in the basement and Hannibal Lecter himself will be pacing the floor in his cell. 90s horror costumes are encouraged, with prizes for the best dressed. John Sizzle will be this evening’s Clarice, with Jayde Adams as Hannibal and Jacqui Potato as Buffalo Bill.

Hoxton Hall is hosting Spooky Swing for dancers of all levels. The Swing Time Dance Company is channelling Halloween with their ghostly Lindy Hop and American horror Jitterbug. Put on your dancing shoes and best fancy dress on October 29.

Running until October 31, an immersive ghost story will draw you into the darkest corners of the Rosemary Branch theatre. Howl, an hour long experience performed for only six audience members at a time, is an attempt to contact the spirit world after an eerie voice is heard calling your name…

Another immersive theatre experience is happening at the Union Chapel on October 30. Witch takes you through the rarely seen back passages of the chapel, revisiting the witch trials and the widespread panic, suspicion and tortured that ensued.

And now for something completely different, and slightly more sophisticated… Pop up dining extravaganza the Glam Clam is shacking up in the Clapton Country Club to bring the Rocky Horror Picture Show to life on October 28 to 29. After a cocktail reception, a themed three course meal and screening of the cult classic, Dr Frank-N-Furter and friends carry on the celebration with an after party. The Glam Clam, known for its opulent and eccentric drag queens, will transform the space with an ensemble cast of Rocky Horror characters. So dress up and do the time warp.
