Hackney super lightweight Ohara Davies got his career back on track at the Liverpool Echo Arena with a sixth-round stoppage of home favourite Tom Farrell.

After losing his unbeaten record in his last fight, Davies stopped Farrell, who had not lost any of his previous 13 fights, to claim the WBA international title.

Davies came out throwing long left jabs, which put southpaw Farrell on the back foot.

The Hackney fighter then produced a right-left combination that dropped Farrell to the canvas, though the Liverpool lad did well to recover.

In round two, a right hook to the head of Farrell had Davies’ opponent down again.

Farrell was getting badly beaten, suffering a cover over his left eye and bleeding from the nose before the fight was brought to an end in the sixth round.

Davies said after the fight that he still has a lot to learn, but has risen to 15th in the WBA rankings with the win over Farrell.
