Hackney stars look to light up The O2 on Frank Warren show

Ohara Davies and Anthony Yarde return to action in the capital this Saturday

Two Hackney boxers return to the ring this Saturday on a packed Frank Warren show at The O2.

Ohara Davies and Anthony Yarde compete on a bill headlined by the WBC silver international middleweight title fight between Martin Murray and Roberto Garcia.

Homerton super lightweight Davies has had to endure a late change in opponents, having originally been scheduled to face Josh Leather.

Instead, ‘Two Tanks’ will now take on Congo’s Paul Kamanga for the WBC international title.

It is a swift return to the ring for the 26-year-old, who beat Ahmed Ibrahim on points in Leeds just last month.

Davies has lost just one of his 18 fights in the pro ranks, winning the other 17 with 13 of those victories coming by way of knockout.

Yarde, meanwhile, goes in search of a 16th straight success as a professional when he tackles Polish light heavyweight rival Dariusz Sek.

The 26-year-old was born in Hackney and will put both his WBO European and WBO inter-continental titles on the line against Sek this weekend.

Yarde last fought in February, beating Tony Averlant at York Hall after the Frenchman was retired by his corner at the end of the seventh round.

Both Davies and Yarde will hope for more success this weekend as they look to continue their progress towards world title bouts.

Unbeaten light heavyweight Michael Page earned a second straight win in the pro ranks when beating Michal Ciach at York Hall last Friday.

Competing on a Hayemaker promotion, ‘Venom’ enjoyed a big height and reach advantage over his Polish rival.

Page came out throwing punches from all difference angles and dropped his opponent in the first round with a hard right jab.

The fight was over in the second when the 31-year-old landed a right hook to Ciach’s head, before the Pole was counted out by referee Jeff Hinds.

Hackney heavyweight Arnold Obodai has been entered into this year’s Haringey Box Cup by his club, Repton.

The competition takes places from June 22-24 at Alexandra Palace in Wood Green and Obodai will hope for a good campaign.
