HEAVYWEIGHT rivals on a collision course face their toughest pro tests so far – Liverpool’s David Price at Brentwood on Saturday and east Londoner Larry Olubamiwo, who boxes two weeks later at York Hall, Bethnal Green.
The pair, who both use Newham’s Peacock gym, have set their sights on the same target – the British heavyweight title – and aim to prove they are ready to wear the crown this year.
Price faces his first 10-round contest when he tackles Osborne Machimana in a Commonwealth heavyweight title eliminator on promoter Frank Maloney’s Brentwood bill, topped by a double title clash when British super-bantamweight champ Jason Booth meets Cwmbran’s Commonwealth king Jamie Arthur.
Olympic bronze medallist Price rates the 6ft 4ins, 18st. South African champ his toughest rival.
Ashley Sexton faces ex-British champ Martin Power on the card.
Also featured on the undercard is another Peacock-trained heavyweight Tom Dallas and Canning Town middleweight Costas Osben.
Heavyweight destroyer Olubamiwo defends his Southern Area title against John McDermott on February 19 at Bethnal Green when Tony Bellew tops the bill in a rematch with Ovill McKenzie.
