Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has given his weekly press conference at London Colney. Read on for his views on injuries ahead of Newcastle United, the Arsenal Foundation, the latest on Jack WIlshere, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s contract situation and much more.

Injury updates ahead of Newcastle

We have to see how everybody recovers in training [from the goalless draw at West Ham] but we have no basic problems. Aaron Ramsey will not be available. He will be out for a bit longer, maybe three weeks. So he’s not in contention for the next three weeks.

On the Arsenal Foundation

It’s an important quality at our club to be able to contribute. It’s part of the historical values of our club and we are very happy to contribute on our side on a day like that [to the Arsenal Foundation Day on Saturday].I think every year we show how much we care. As well the Arsenal Foundation does a great job.

On Jack Wilshere

I don’t know I’ll rotate a little bit at the moment. We have to see. We play Tuesday again. We play basically four games in nine days so I will have to assess how everyone recovers but he has done well in the games he has played. He gave an encouraging performance [at West Ham]. He suffered certainly in the last 20 minutes but we were in a position where we had to attack but I left him on the position because he can contribute to that. But overall it was positive. He has been very patient and worked very hard.

On a new deal for Jack

Yes, we will talk to him. I said to him at the end of December and we are in the beginning of December so it’s true it is not far. I wanted to see as well how much he can contribute and how well he will last. It is of course for him to be happy to be here. I consider him to be an Arsenal man and for him it’s important to feel happy here.

On Olivier Giroud starting?

Every game is different. I believe he had a good game and gave everything. He was a bit isolated up front in the middle of three centre backs. I try, especially up front to rotate. I have not decided exactly what I will do yet

On Alexandre Lacazette being dropped/rested/rotated

[He didn’t start against West Ham] because of rotation and recently because of a groin problem and I didn’t want to push him too much. When you rotate you rotate. He was rested.

Alexis Sanchez

He is focussed on training. It is true at the moment it doesn’t come off as much as it did before. But you go for periods when it is like that and I must say he fights and he always tries to make a difference and when you are less successful in your finishing you want to force the game a little bit. I cannot fault his commitment or his attitude at all.

The Invincibles v Manchester City

We had no ‘petrol’ but ideas. They have ‘petrol’ and ideas so that makes it even more efficient. So everybody expects they can last [unbeaten], It can happen, why not, but there is still a long way to go. At the moment I think everything goes for them in games but they have the quality to turn it into their favour. They have resources [money]. They have quality in their management, in their players. They have everything that is needed to be successful. It’s not easy.

On Mesut Ozil and Sanchez staying in January

Yes. They will all stay. My wish and my desire is that everybody stays.
