Arsenal’s opponents Manchester City have made a record start to the season – but boss Pep Guardiola has insisted his team won’t be able to match Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles.

If City win in the clash at the Etihad tomorrow they could go eight points clear in the Premier League. They have already notched 35 league goals in only ten matches and approach the fixture with great confidence after an impressive 4-2 victory against Serie A leaders in Naples in the Champions League this week.

But Guardiola downplayed thoughts of City remaining unbeaten all season and mirroring Arsenal’s incredible efforts during the club’s 2003-04 Invincible season despite being unbeaten in 22 games in all competitions this term.

Speaking to Sky Sports when asked if his team could match them he said: “Of course not. Whenever I see a game a see weak points the opposition [can capitalise on].

“But if we win the game we will be unbeaten in two months. It’s a good feeling. We are well.”

Arsenal were the last team to beat City – in April’s FA Cup semi-final, when they triumphed 2-1 in extra time.
