Arsenal have landed Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen. Read on for ten facts you may not know about the Gunners new goalkepeer.

He was born in Bietigheim-Bissingen and joined SV Germania Bietigheim aged eight before being scouted by VfB Stuttgart.

He joined VfB Stuttgart’s youth academy aged 11, graduating in 2015 making his professional debut.

In 2011 he became the youngest goalkeeper to play in the Champions League, making his debut against Chelsea.

Only Manuel Neuer has more Bundesliga clean sheets than Leno since 2014/15.

He stands at 1.9m tall (6ft 3in) – the same height as Jens Lehmann.

He has two honours with the national team, winning the U17’s European Championships in 2009, and more memorably the Confederations Cup in 2017.

He is from German-Russian descent.

His hero is Spanish Legend Iker Casillas.

Leno packs experience for his age, making 225 appearances in the Bundesliga.

He’s vocally commanding which led him to becoming Leverkusen’s vice-captain last season.
