England’s 2018 World Cup squad was announced earlier today and there were plenty of links to our local clubs

England will have several players with links to north London in their 2018 World Cup squad with Gareth Southgate including five members of the Tottenham Hotspur squad and one Arsenal player in the final 23-man squad.

The Gunners’ Danny Welbeck has made the cut while Spurs will have Kieran Trippier, Eric Dier, Danny Rose, Dele Alli and Harry Kane representing the Three Lions in Russia later this summer.

Brent-born Raheem Sterling, a Premier League title winner with Manchester City, will also fly the flag for this part of the capital.

It was confirmed at 2pm and as expected there was no place for West Ham United loan goalkeeper Joe Hart or left-back Aaron Cresswell.
