The Tons travel away to face their rivals at the Mile End Stadium (7.45pm kick-off) on the back of their FA Cup preliminary round 2-0 victory against Norwich United.

The Forest Gate-based club will be looking to pick up their second league win of the season and climb up the table after having a mixed start in their opening three fixtures.

“Tower Hamlets will be a tricky one, but one we’ll get the boys prepared for,” Thomas said.

“It’s a derby and it’s Friday night football, with the right result, it will make the bank holiday weekend even more enjoyable.”

Thomas also heaped praise on manager Ade Abayomi for his work at Tower Hamlets and the way he always gets his side’s playing football.

“With Ade at the helm, Tower Hamlets have always had quality young players who are technically sound, not scared to play and not scared of pressure whilst in possession.

“It’s because of that mindset and ethos through the team they’ll all be dangerous if we’re not on our game.”

Clapton will be going into the Essex Senior League fixture on the back of a causing an FA Cup upset against Bostik North outfit Norwich United 2-0 and progressing through to the next round.

Goals in each half sealed the victory for the side, as a Jerry Jairette free-kick was converted after Ryan Reed got a touch on it to put first-half substitute Raphael Duyile in, who slotted it home.

The Tons Ikem Odeh doubled the lead after 70 minutes and Thomas admits he was delighted with how his side played.

“It showed what we are capable of,” he said.

“The 2-0 win against Norwich made my weekend. Everyone was quality and stuck to the game plan.

“Ryan Reed and Quincy Egbejale set new standards for themselves.

“Quincy was colossal, won his battles, made some great blocks, made super tackles and had to do all of this with an early yellow.

“Ryan Reed had everyone singing his praises with his trickery, creativity, positivity and hard work.

“He was a full back’s nightmare.”
