Daggers and O’s to meet in replay at Brisbane Road on Tuesday night

Dagenham & Redbridge skipper Scott Doe admits he would have liked to have avoided the need for a replay with Leyton Orient in the FA Cup – particularly as it comes so soon after Saturday’s initial tie.

After a goalless draw at Victoria Road, the two local rivals will meet again at Brisbane Road to see who progresses from the fourth qualifying round.

It adds another game to the schedule for the Essex club, and one it seems Doe would like to have done without.

“I would have wanted to get the job done on Saturday, even more so after learning the replay is on Tuesday!” said the Daggers skipper.

“Orient are a good side and they’ve recently been in the Football League, but we wanted to get the job done on Saturday.

“We don’t fear going to their place, but we were at home and we wanted to win.

“We had a few chances and it’s frustrating not scoring again, but we just have to keep working at it and get the win on Tuesday.”

With the replay to come on Tuesday, both Daggers and O’s will be in the draw for the first round on Monday evening.

Both teams will be looking to see who ball 64 draws, and Doe admits that a tie against a club from the Football League will give both Daggers and O’s an extra incentive to triumph in the replay.

“When you see the draw, if you get a big game or a winnable tie, it does spur you on even more to win because there’s nothing better than good cup run,” he added.

“Reaching the third round, you can face the big teams and it’s brilliant for the club, the fans and the players.

“Regardless of who us or Orient are drawn to face, we’re going there Tuesday to win.”
