Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation, is teaming up with the Essex Senior League this weekend to spread anti-discrimination messages at three of its fixtures.

Barking’s clash at Southend Manor, Clapton’s match with Burnham Ramblers as well as Basildon United’s fixture with FC Romania will all play integral parts in visibly highlighting inclusive messages.

All players will warm-up in Kick It Out t-shirts and the organisation’s messages will be on display at the various grounds.

Local school children have been invited to attend with small training sessions taking place before the games and then a mini-match at half-time.

Special concessions rates will be announced by the clubs in due course to boost crowds as the 2016/17 season draws to a close.

Essex Senior League secretary Michelle Dorling is looking forward to the day after helping organise the event on April 22.

She said: “The Essex Senior League and its clubs are always looking for volunteers to help develop and run their organisations smoothly for the benefit of those who enjoy football.

“It’s hoped a high profile campaign like this will encourage people looking to become involved in their local community to consider helping the Essex Senior League or one of its members.”

Dorling continued: “The message we would like to convey is the Essex Senior League operates across Essex, Hertfordshire and London areas - areas with a diverse population.

“There will be people looking to become involved in their community even in a small capacity which will assist our clubs to become the best they can.”

East London Radio, who produce a show called the Grassroots Footy Show every Thursday have also teamed up with the Essex Senior League and Kick it Out to spread the message.

Adam Richardson, who presents the show and is also a secretary at Tower Hamlets, is looking forward to the day and praised Dorling.

The Bethnal Green resident, who has Asperger’s syndrome, also confirmed the ELR team will be at Old Spotted Dog to report on Clapton’s match with Burnham.

“I have to congratulate our League Secretary Michelle Dorling, who is the brains behind the whole event,” said Richardson.

“She is very committed to getting the league accessible to all. East London Radio will be down there on the day.

“I will be at Clapton and I am hoping one of my ELR colleagues will be with me, we will be reporting on the event, participating where possible and giving out some goodie bags with ELR merchandise.

“The goodie bags will also include Kick It Out merchandise and anyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun, so make sure you come along and say hello.”
