The O’s Digital Media Officer announced his impending departure ahead of the Colchester United match

Leyton Orient’s Digital Media Officer Charlie Long is the latest member of staff to depart the E10 club during this different period for the east Londoners.

At the end of last month, the University of East London graduate confirmed the Colchester United game on April 29 would be his last at Brisbane Road in his current role.

Saturday’s match at Blackpool will be Long’s final match before he leaves his Digital Media Officer job for pastures new.

The Orient fan joins a lengthy list of staff to have departed the O’s during 2017 with managers, players as well as full-time staff moving on.

Groundsman Joe Newton departed at the start of April while ex-physio Pete Webb moved in March along with goalkeeper coach Martin Brennan.

“I have made the decision to leave my position as Digital Media Officer following the conclusion of this season,” said Long via a statement on Twitter.

“Having grown up a supporter, I will always be immensely proud to have had the opportunity to work for Leyton Orient, though unfortunately it has coincided with the club enduring some extremely challenging times.

“Despite everything that has happened, it has been an honour to be a part of the staff here. I have met so many fantastic individuals and seen first-hand the brilliant work that goes on behind the scenes. I do firmly believe that this club will return to what it once was, but it’s time to be a fan again.”
