Leyton Orient were the only winners – on the field at least – as far as our east London clubs were concerned this past week.

Young Josh Koroma’s hat-trick steered Danny Webb’s relegation-threatened side to a 4-0 win at bottom club Newport County, days after it was revealed the club had been served a winding-up petition.

O’s are due to welcome Grimsby Town to Brisbane Road this weekend, before making the long midweek trip to Accrington Stanley on Tuesday, while Premier League neighbours West Ham head to the south coast to take on Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth, following their derby defeat against leaders Chelsea at the London Stadium on Monday.

Captain Mark Noble’s mistake in front of the live Sky Sports cameras helped the Blues break the deadlock through Eden Hazard, with Diego Costa doubling their advantage before Manuel Lanzini’s last-gasp consolation.

But Slaven Bilic’s men should be confident of bouncing back against the out-of-form Cherries, who remain winless in 2017 but held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last weekend.

Dagenham & Redbridge, meanwhile, have slipped to fourth in the National League table following a 1-0 loss at Gateshead and are due to welcome fellow promotion hopefuls Forest Green Rovers.

It means a return to Victoria Road for popular Welsh striker Christian Doidge, who John Still’s side will have to keep quiet if they are to remain in the running for a return to the Football League.

Correspondents Dave Evans, George Sessions and Ned Keating share their thoughts in our latest podcast, presented by Archant’s digital specialist project manager Matt Withers.
