Pre-season friendly: Tottenham Hotspur Ladies 7 Reading Development 0

Spurs Ladies were in seventh-heaven on Sunday following a 7-0 win against WSL 1 side Reading Development, which ensured the goals keep coming ahead of their début season in the WSL 2.

The Lilywhites were ahead within four minutes, as Sarah Wiltshire’s near-post havoc caused Georgia Valentine to punch out to Sophie Mclean, who struck with menace into the top left from distance.

Bianca Baptiste paced down the middle soon after before turning on the roulette and popping off to Wendy Martin, who struck wide with clout.

Mclean then played Baptiste away, whose whipped in cross was spilled for Wiltshire to latch onto, but she fired wide on the turn.

The pressure continued and Martin slipped in Baptiste, who looked to place across, though Valentine made the stop with her feet.

A carbon-copy move saw Baptiste break away this time hitting the post, but it was double-trouble for the visitors on 21 when Lucia Leon cut in off the right, drifted to the byline before finding Wiltshire, who placed home from close.

Wiltshire nearly made it 3-0 when she latched onto possession off the left before striking the crossbar with a curler.

She was involved again when she broke away down the left placing to Mclean on the edge, whose near-post strike was palmed away.

Jenna Schillaci’s corner then saw Wiltshire volley inches over at the far-post, as Spurs dominated Reading.

The next goal arrived on 33 when Leon flashed a low centre across goal for Hannah Mackenzie to fire into the far corner.

Karen Hills thought it was 4-0 minutes later when Schillaci layed off to Baptiste, whose looped cross dropped to Mackenzie to head home – but she was deemed offside.

On 42, Spurs did go four up, as Martin slipped through a Trialist, who patiently placed past Valentine.

Following the restart, Ronnell Humes played Lauren Pickett over the top who struck the post. Ashleigh Neville then acrobatically latched onto a Trialist’s cross, seeing Kite make a close stop.

The next action occurred when Kerry Walklett broke away, playing through Moore, who saw Mackenzie make the block.

Mclean then struck wide looking for a carbon-copy of her opener before Maya Vio slipped through Pickett, who took the ball round Kite and found the net on 71.

A super-six arrived three minutes later, as Pickett rounded Kite placing across to Humes whose back-flick was sent in.

It was very nearly seven when Katie O’Leary recycled with Mclean heading over at the near-post.

But Tottenham did make it 7-0 and round off the scoring in the process when Pickett off the right popped off to Trialist and she set-up Humes to strike inside the near-post four minutes from time to cap a great day for Hills’ team.

Matchday Squad: Chloe Morgan, Lucia Leon, Hannah Mackenzie, Jenna Schillaci, Ashleigh Neville, Josie Green, Trialist, Sophie Mclean, Bianca Baptiste, Wendy Martin, Sarah Wiltshire. (Subs/All Used): Ryah Vyse, Maya Vio, Katie O’Leary, Lauren Pickett, Ronnell Humes.
