It has been a mixed week for some of the club’s international stars as they look to help their countries reach the 2018 World Cup

Tottenham Hotspur’s England contingent are getting ready for more international action this evening and they’ll be hoping to inspire the Three Lions to success at Wembley Stadium against Slovakia.

Harry Kane netted twice for Gareth Southgate’s team on Friday night during a 4-0 win at Malta to keep them top of their World Cup qualifying group.

Dele Alli set up his Spurs team-mate for the opener of their Group F clash before England were able to press home their advantage late on.

Joining the pair in the starting XI tonight is Eric Dier with the midfielder returning after suspension and likely to play from the off at Wembley.

The three Tottenham players will be desperate to help their country claim three points and in the process take a giant step towards qualifying for Russia 2018.

A victory, with Kane, Alli and Dier impressing, would also boost the confidence of the trio at the national stadium.

It has been a great few days for Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele with Belgium.

Last Thursday the two defenders played the full match to help their country thrash Gilbraltar 9-0 in Group H while Dembele came on at half time.

And then on Sunday, Vertonghen netted for Belgium in their 2-1 victory away to Greece to confirm the Red Devils place at next year’s World Cup.

Dembele played 74 minutes while both Spurs centre back played the whole match on a great night for the European country.

Hugo Lloris didn’t concede once for France over the last week, but was left far from happy on Sunday night.

The Tottenham captain was all smiles last Thursday, as Les Bleus won 4-0 against the Netherlands with Vincent Janssen playing 64 minutes of the Group A encounter.

But France were held to a goalless draw yesterday evening by minnow Luxembourg, yet still sit top with 17 points from eight games.

Janssen, meanwhile, played 90 minutes on Sunday, as the Netherlands bounced back from their recent hammering to defeat Bulgaria 3-1 and move up to third.

Christian Eriksen will look to achieve more success with Denmark tonight (Monday) after inspiring a 4-0 triumph over Poland on Friday in Group E.

The Dane playmaker picked up three assists and then fired in from range to cap an excellent night.

Eriksen will look to turn it on again away to Armenia this evening with Denmark in third place in the group.

Ben Davies is in action tomorrow (Tuesday) when Wales travel to Moldova for a crucial Group D clash.

The left-back played his part on Saturday evening, as his country defeated Austria 1-0 to keep alive their hopes of reaching Russia.

Wales are third and two points behind the Republic of Ireland, but in with a chance of qualifying for the play-offs ahead of their latest clash.

New signing Serge Aurier completed 90 minutes for Ivory Coast on Saturday, as they beat Gabon 3-0 in African Group C to remain on course for the 2018 World Cup.

The right-back is set to feature for his country tomorrow when they take on Gabon again for another fixture.

Elsewhere Davinson Sanchez was an unused substitute during Colombia’s goalless draw with Venezuela last Thursday in the South American qualifying section.

Sanchez will hope to play some part in tomorrow’s fixture with Brazil and help his nation stay on course for Russia.

Heung-min Son was also involved in a 0-0 draw last week, as South Korea couldn’t break down Iran in Group A of the Asian qualifying section.

Son will hope for better on Tuesday when they face Uzbekistan with a victory set to secure their place at the 2018 World Cup.
