Lee Valley Lions have moved to appoint long-serving defenceman James Joseph as the club’s new player-coach.

The 31-year-old defenceman has taken over the reigns after George Alley stepped down from the role at the end of last season.

Joseph has played every season with the Lions since they reformed in 2005 and will now have the duty of putting together a team for next campaign.

He will continue his playing duties alongside his new role after making 22 appearances but failing to score any points last term.

Now the club has a coach in place, they would like to invite players along on a Tuesday evening to try-out for the 2018/19 team.

The sessions run from 8.30pm to 9.30pm and costs £10.

Player announcements should be expected in the coming weeks with players already being lined-up ahead of the new National League South Two campaign.
