Just the one Group One race on day two — but it just so happens to be Royal Ascot’s richest

After the excitement of the opening day of this year’s Royal Ascot meet, many punters will hope day two brings a similar amount of thrilling action.

There is just the one Group One race on the second day of the event, though it happens to be Royal Ascot’s richest.

With a prize fund of £750,000, all eyes will be on the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at 4.20pm.

Last week, Archant London sat down with Martin Girdwood of Girdys Gee Gees to get his tips for the entire Royal Ascot meet.

For the richest race of them all, Martin has plumped for the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Ulysses, which will be ridden by Jim Crowley.

Martin will hope to continue his form from day one, having tipped the winners in the first two Group One races.

Had you placed three separate £10 win bets on Martin’s selections in the three Group One races on day one, you would have ended Tuesday £36 up – not a bad start to the meet.

Be sure to check back tomorrow to see Martin’s selections for day two.
