Thursday sees Ladies Day, and hopefully our tip is equally as eye-catching as the dresses

With this year’s event well underway, Thursday sees the return of the iconic Ladies Day at Royal Ascot.

The day is seen as a chance for women to stand out in their finest dresses, with the spotlight well and truly on high fashion today.

Away from that, though, there is the small matter of another six races from 2.30pm, again with just the one Group One race.

At 4.20pm, all eyes will be in the Gold Cup, run over two-and-a-half miles and with a prize pot of £400,000.

Our Ascot tipster Martin Girdwood of Girdys Gee Gees is intrigued by the race, but feels Order of St George is at too short a price to back.

That’s why he’s instead plumped for an each way bet today, believing Big Orange represents good value.

So far, Martin is currently £26 up for the meet and will hope to continue his good form.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for Martin’s tips for Friday’s Group One races, the Commonwealth Cup at 3.40pm and the Coronation Stakes at 4.20pm.
