Shoppers, diners and more at Covent Garden will be tasked with helping to save Christmas this year.
Adults-only pantomime Once Upon a Christmas will take audiences on a journey around the iconic Piazza’s shops, bars, and restaurants and the London Transport Museum on a mission to save Christmas from disaster - and help the Prince and his bride-to-be have a happy ending. Accessing their inner Elf, audiences will have individual encounters with Christmas characters conventional and distinctly unconventional.
The decisions that they take will have an impact on the outcome of the story – it is up to audiences to save Christmas.
Setting out at intervals of seven minutes, each pair of audience members will be dispatched off to help Elf and his friends rescue Christmas in a journey that will last approximately an hour.
Working their way around parts of Covent Garden the public never normally gets to see, as well as more recognisable and familiar landmarks of one of London’s most famous neighbourhoods, the production will take its inspiration from Covent Garden’s rich heritage as the birthplace of street performance in London.
Once Upon a Christmas will run from November 18 to December 15. Tickets cost £35.
