It's a hot summer's day, you're thirsty and you want something refreshing to eat or drink but also something different from the norm - so where do you go?

Here are three places which have caught London24's eye recently - all of them most definitely a bit unusual in the culinary treats they serve up.

Bubbleology: Bubble tea is a Taiwanese drink, either milk or fruit-based and served hot or cold. Chewy flavoured tapioca balls with a similar texture to gummy bears are found at the bottom and sucked up using a straw. Its a weird sensation but also weirdly tasty. Set up in the style of a retro science lab, Bubbleology can be found in Soho, Knightsbridge and now also Notting Hill. The slightly offbeat surroundings complement the bizarre drinks very nicely.

The Meat Bar: South African restaurant Shaka Zulu in Camden has launched what is being billed as the "most carnivorous bar" in the capital, serving a unique selection of meat-infused cocktails. These include Bloody Bacon, Meatequita and the Wheeling Salmon. This is where food and drink combine literally!

MADD: Combine the word mango with addiction and you have MADD. This Soho restaurant is unusual in that all its desserts, puddings, snacks and drinks incorporate the tropical fruit in some way. If you marvel at mangoes then this is the place to head. I was treated to some desserts here recently and they tasted delicious as well as being beautifully presented. It's a cool relaxed setting with extremely friendly staff and owner.
