It is home to the ever-popular Broadway Market and an Olympic-size heated lido – so is it any surprise that London Fields has been crowned one of London’s best places to live?

Pipped to the top spot in The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Live 2024 by Clerkenwell, London Fields was still among six other neighbourhoods praised by the judging panel.

Its proximity to the Regent’s Canal and “on-trend” restaurants, bars, cafes and shops were all spotlighted in the guide.

The judges said: “It is easy to dismiss this bijou corner of the capital as a bouji bubble, but London Fields, ten minutes from Liverpool Street on the Overground, offers all the energy of east London with a calmer, (slightly) less breathlessly hip ambience.”

For those looking to relax in the area, the 31 acres of park or the restored 1930s lido should do the trick.

Night-life options include Pub on the Park and Night Tales Loft, and you will never be hungry if you take a stroll through Broadway Market at the weekend.

Other London spots mentioned by the judging panel include last year’s winner Crouch End, as well as Forest Hill, Highams Park, Little Venice and Wimbledon Village.

The guide’s editor Helen Davies said: “Different people may be looking for different things, but what all our best places have in common is that people love living in them and are proud to call them home.”
