Our pick of the weekend's action:

To HEAR

There’ll be primate-themed techno aplenty as Simian Mobile Disco take over the upstairs room at the Old Queen’s Head tonight. The globe-trotting house pioneers are set to pump out their back catalogue of monster hits, including Hustler, as well as unleashing bleepy chaos on the dancefloor.

The Old Queen’s Head, Essex Road, N1, on Friday from 8pm. Costs £5, call 020 7354 9993.

To EAT

If barbecue and beats float your boat, head to Smokey Tails in Hackney Wick, a riverside pop-up venture from famous DJ Seth Troxler among others. It’s a wooden decked sun trap with lashings of frozen cocktails, guest beers, wings, ribs and pulled pork with some choice tunes on the boombox.

From 2 to 4pm on Saturday at the Library, Upper Street, N1. Costs £10, call 020 7704 6977.

To SEE

Take an urban pilgrimage, with London’s Perverted Children, a collaborative music and theatre production where guides reveal the nocturnal tales of the streets we walk, immersing us in the world of Hackney Wick.

Until Saturday at The Yard Theatre, White Post Lane, E9. Costs £10, visit theyardtheatre.co.uk.

To LAUGH

Chuckle away as Irish comic Paddy Lennox, sound effect inspired gag-machine Darren Walsh and miserable mirth-merchant Richard Stainbank hit the stage at a pub that also serves cracking steaks and pints.

North Nineteen, Sussex Way, N19, on tonight from 7pm. Costs £7.50 (£5 advance) call 020 7281 2786.
