Stoke Newington fire station threw open its doors on Sunday to mark 150 years of the London Fire Brigade.
Visitors to the station in Church Street got the chance to witness real fire fighters in action and what goes on everyday inside a fire station, whether crews are training or running out to a “shout”.
The ‘White Watch’ simulated cutting casualties free from a car and demonstrating their line rescue techniques from the tower. Pictures of incidents attended by the local crews were on show, and fire fighters were on hand to answer questions about life on a fire station and to pass on useful fire safety advice.
