£1m works to upgrade the 750-capacity assembly hall at Shoreditch Town Hall are now complete.

The renovated space will ensure the venue’s purpose built main house will be able to operate at its full capacity since the 1960s, following the installation of 274 seats back into the main balcony space.

The space will be unveiled at the London première of Kneehigh’s Dead Dog in a Suitcase, a radical new reworking of The Beggar’s Opera presenting a twisted tale of modern morality, performed from December 2-12.

Technical facilities and infrastructure have been added to the main space, to meet the needs of a contemporary live performance and music programme.
