A brain injury charity will launch its first ever pop-up shop next month in Hoxton.
Headway East London’s Submit to Love store will host exhibitions, workshops and creative events so people can learn more about survivors’ experiences.
Named after the charity’s art studio, the shop will also be selling products designed by the service users, raising much needed funds for Headway.
Billy Mann, 57, suffered a stroke in 2012 and will be hosting his own workshop. He said: “I wanted to see if I could share the experience of brain injury because, strangely, it can tell you a lot about yourself”
The Kingsland Road charity supports 700 brain injury survivors a year, with 160 people visiting each week to getsupport and access a range of other services including an onsite art studio, working kitchen and creative projects covering music, photography, creative writing and gardening.
Chief Executive Anthony Bonfil says: “The pop up will provide our members with an opportunity to share their knowledge and talents with the wider community, in addition to encouraging a more open dialogue about the effects of brain injury for both survivors and those close to them.”
