Hackney’s politicians have been out and about accompanying police officers on the beat so they can get an insight into the extra demands placed on them throughout the festive period.
London Assembly Member, Jennette Arnold AM, MP Meg Hillier and Cllr Mete Coban have all taken part in what’s been dubbed ‘Walk the Met’.
Ms Arnold joined with PC Conrad Boddington and Inspector Jeoff Bull in Stamford Hill, where she visited the base of Hatzola - a Jewish ambulance service run by volunteers.
She said: “Our officers work hard all year round but seeing the extra challenges the festive period can bring was very insightful. It was a chance to see first-hand how officers have responded to growing pressure on resources and it was impressive to see that they are still able to deliver a professional service with diligence and dedication.”
